“The skill pack is a few Markdown files and starter scenes. Remotion, HyperFrames and 180+ GitHub repos already give that away free.”

01/The verdict

A free directory of AI-made motion videos with their prompts. It earns from a $29 (later $49) one-time agent skill pack for writing motion videos in code, plus directory sponsorships from $100.

What MotionVideo sells is instruction files, scene starters and motion tokens for coding agents. That is the easiest kind of thing to copy, and free versions are everywhere: Remotion's official Agent Skills, HyperFrames' animation skill (about 44k GitHub stars), and an awesome-list that tracks 180 video-skill repos. The founder has a small but real audience (2.6k X followers, shadcnlabs at 5.5k+ stars) and the directory is newly curated, but the domain rating is 1 and traffic is 166 visits a month, so none of this would slow a challenger down.

02/2 moats

~3 mo to cross

Aniket Pawar (@alaymanguy) has about 2.6k X followers, runs shadcnlabs (5.5k+ GitHub stars) and curates shadcnweekly. That likely drove most of the roughly 17 launch sales ($564 in its first month, with 83 of 100 launch slots left).

To cross it: Build in public on X in the design-engineering niche for a few months, or partner with one larger creator who already posts Claude Code video demos.

~2 mo to cross

The directory curates AI-made motion videos from X with their prompts, and takes community submissions and sponsors such as Shadcn Labs. But it gets 449 Google impressions and 166 visitors a month on a DR 1 domain.

To cross it: Scrape and curate the same viral X posts into a better-indexed gallery and push SEO on keywords like 'Remotion prompt' and 'Claude motion graphics'.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The skill files and motion tokens, which are plain Markdown and config any Claude Code user can write or fork
  • The directory of videos, which embeds public X posts anyone can collect
  • Scene starters for showreels, title cards and launch films, which free repos like claude-video-2 and motion-graphics-skills already ship
  • The site itself, which is open source on GitHub

How you'd go after it

  • Give away a better skill for free on GitHub and grow stars, as farhan-syah, Felipeex and bestagentkits already do
  • Use an existing large audience: post one viral Opus-made launch video on X with a free skill link and take the whole niche's attention
  • Go vertical with something like a skill tuned for SaaS changelog videos or App Store previews, plus hosted rendering, which a static pack can't offer
  • Sell done-for-you launch videos to startups instead of files, since buyers who want results don't want to run Remotion themselves

04/Build against it?

Stay away

Paid prompt and skill packs compete with official free skills from Remotion and HeyGen, plus hundreds of open-source repos. Only try it with an existing audience of thousands of design engineers, and even then the money is in audience and sponsorships, not the pack.
