01/The verdict

Reddit pain-point scanner that groups complaints into scored, evidence-linked problem reports. Indie hackers and PMs pay $19 or $49 once for scan credits.

IdeaFast pulls Reddit posts, clusters them with embeddings, has an LLM label each cluster, and links quotes back to threads. Any builder can rebuild that in days. The category filled up with clones after GummySearch shut down: PainOnSocial, BigIdeasDB, findmeidea, PainMap, Painhunt, RedditMaster and others. Nothing makes customers stay. Payment is one-time, MRR is $0, all-time revenue is $190, and the founder has 632 X followers. The only real asset is a young SEO content library with a domain rating of 27.

02/1 moat

~2 mo to cross

The site runs a programmatic SEO engine: pain pages by niche, 'X alternative' comparison pages, and a free library of 745 scored problems from 18,669 posts. It also says it is listed on GummySearch's own alternatives page. Domain rating is 27, there is a 50% affiliate program, and revenue is still tiny.

To cross it: Publish the same niche pain pages and competitor comparison pages, then get listed in the many 'GummySearch alternatives' roundups. A few months of content work covers it.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The pipeline: fetch subreddit posts, embed, cluster, label with an LLM, attach quotes and a 0 to 100 score
  • The pay-once credit pricing ($19 for 40 scans, $49 for 100) plus CSV, JSON and PDF exports
  • Idea generation per pain point and the free scored-problem library, which can be rebuilt from public Reddit data
  • No accounts, history or team workflows that would lock a user in

How you'd go after it

  • Go multi-source (Reddit plus G2, App Store reviews, HN, X), since buyers already see Reddit-only as a weakness
  • Get a proper Reddit commercial data license or a durable data provider. Reddit's API approval wall killed GummySearch, and that is the real risk for every tool in this category
  • Offer ongoing monitoring and alerts as a subscription, which a one-time scan tool doesn't do
  • Rank for the post-GummySearch 'alternatives' and 'Reddit pain points' searches with deeper, fresher content than a solo founder can keep up with

04/Build against it?

Stay away

Dozens of near-identical Reddit idea-validation tools are fighting over a small indie-hacker market that pays once. They all depend on Reddit data access, which Reddit can choke off, as it did for GummySearch. Only worth it if you hold a licensed data source or an audience of founders.
