Does ConvertLabs have a moat?

Kinda.

40/100 · Shallow moat

“A booking form with bedroom pricing is a month of work. Rohan Gilkes' cohorts, where 90% of new users come from, are the hard part to copy.”

01/The verdict

Booking, payments, website and team software for home cleaning and other home service businesses, paid by owners at $67 to $397 a month.

The software itself copies easily: quote-by-room booking forms, recurring schedules, Stripe payments, cleaner payouts and template websites. Its growth depends on Rohan Gilkes' teaching funnel. He sold $20M+ of cleaning services through Maids in Black, founded Launch27, runs Cleaning Bootcamp cohorts and summits, and says about 90% of users arrive through those cohorts. That funnel is real but small, with about 473 active subscriptions, and revenue slid from about $35.6k in Dec 2025 to under $30k, so a focused rival can get in.

02/3 moats

Time won't do it

Gilkes built Maids in Black ($20M+ in sales) and Launch27, then sold both. He has 23k X followers, a newsletter he says has 90k+ readers, and a YouTube channel. Customers buy because he is the cleaning-business operator they want to copy.

To cross it: Earn credibility as an operator who has built a real cleaning or home service company, or partner with a coach who already has, since a stranger can't buy that reputation.

~12 mo to cross

He told Indie Hustle that 90% of users now come from cohorts teaching people to start cleaning companies, such as Cleaning Bootcamp and the New Year New Freedom summit with Kevin Pereira. Each new student comes in already set up on ConvertLabs. The domain also has a domain rating of 71 and industry landing pages.

To cross it: Build or rent a 'start a cleaning business' course, YouTube channel or summit that sets students up on your software by default.

~3 mo to cross

Customers run their hosted website, booking form, recurring client schedules, saved cards in Stripe and cleaner payouts on it. Moving means rebuilding the site and re-entering recurring bookings.

To cross it: Offer a free white-glove migration that imports clients, recurring schedules and the Stripe customer IDs, and rebuilds the site.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • Booking forms that quote by bedrooms and bathrooms, with extras and recurring discounts
  • Stripe card-on-file charging, automatic payouts and cleaner scheduling
  • Template local-service websites and marketing tools like reminders, reviews and coupons
  • Flat pricing, which rivals already undercut (ZenMaid from $19/mo, BookingKoala from $27/mo)

How you'd go after it

  • Price the entry tier well under $67 and include the website, aimed at brand-new owners graduating from other cleaning courses
  • Partner with competing cleaning-business coaches and Facebook groups who don't want to send students to a rival coach's software
  • Go after the established operators ConvertLabs is losing (revenue is down about 20% over a year) with deeper dispatch, payroll and field apps like Jobber's
  • Pick a vertical ConvertLabs serves loosely, like pool, lawn or pet care, with pricing logic and SEO built for that trade

04/Build against it?

Only with an edge

Only worth it if you own a channel to new cleaning or home service owners, such as a course, audience or coach partnership. The software alone competes with Jobber, ZenMaid and BookingKoala at lower prices.
