No.

“Wrapping carrier, HLR and email-check data behind one credit balance takes a week. The real advantage is VoiceDrop's customer list, not the API.”

01/The verdict

A pay-per-credit API and dashboard for phone, email and IP checks plus about 34 to 41 data lookups, sold mostly to call centers, agencies and outbound marketers.

1Lookup mostly resells data that anyone can buy: carrier and HLR lookups, the DNC registry, SMTP email checks, IP reputation and SEO data. It has 7 Trustpilot reviews, an Ahrefs domain rating of 31, and an API that customers can swap out in an afternoon. The verified revenue seems to come from a Stripe account shared with sister company VoiceDrop (the TrustMRR logo is VoiceDrop's, and the same profile was listed earlier as 1Capture), so 1Lookup on its own probably makes far less than the $270k MRR shown. Its main protection is cross-selling to VoiceDrop's ringless-voicemail users and a paid-ads team, not anything built into the product.

02/2 moats

~4 mo to cross

VoiceDrop says it reached 2,000+ customers within a year, and its blog sends readers to clean their lists with 1Lookup, which it says is "built by the same team." The founders describe themselves as paid-ads operators and run SEO comparison pages and cost calculators against Twilio, Hunter and others.

To cross it: Partner with another dialer or ringless-voicemail platform, or win buyer-intent searches like 'phone validation API pricing' with calculators and comparison pages.

~1 mo to cross

Some customers have wired its endpoints, MCP server, or HubSpot, Salesforce, Shopify and Twilio integrations into their workflows, and unused credits carry over for 3 months.

To cross it: Offer endpoints that work as a drop-in replacement and match or give back customers' leftover credits.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The lookups themselves come from upstream sellers like Twilio, Telnyx, HLR providers and the FTC DNC registry, so anyone can buy the same data
  • A single credit balance across many products is just billing logic
  • Bulk CSV upload, the dashboard and the MCP endpoint are a few days of work
  • Free tools and comparison pages are easy to copy with AI-written content

How you'd go after it

  • Build list scrubbing into a competing dialer or SMS platform so validation costs nothing extra there
  • Undercut its roughly $9.90 per 1,000 credits starter price with wholesale carrier data and a pure pay-as-you-go plan
  • Focus on TCPA compliance (reassigned numbers, litigator lists, DNC) with audit logs that call centers can show their lawyers
  • Target its billing complaints with no-contract, cancel-anytime pricing

04/Build against it?

Stay away

This is a commodity data-resale market with many large incumbents and thin margins, unless you already own a captive outbound-calling customer base you can cross-sell to.
