Does Promptwise have a moat?

Kinda.

36/100 · Shallow moat

“Wrapping 40 AI models behind one credit system takes about 2 weeks. A 30k-member paid Skool that sells the tool for you does not.”

01/The verdict

A multi-model AI creative studio (Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5, Nano Banana Pro and 40+ more) on one credit subscription from $9 to $349, paid mostly by creators

The product resells third-party models (Kling, Veo, Seedance, ElevenLabs) through a credit wallet. Higgsfield, Krea and Freepik already sell the same thing with more money, and leaving costs a customer nothing. What protects it is distribution: the founders' AI Video Bootcamp on Skool, a $9-a-month community with roughly 25k to 30k members that ranks #1 for AI video, is where the $64k MRR came from, and a clone can't get into that room.

02/3 moats

Time won't do it

AI Video Bootcamp, the sister Skool community run by co-founders Daniel Riley and Mateo Starcevic Filipovic, has about 25k to 30k paying members and is ranked #1 AI video/image course on Skool. PromptWise was built inside it and is promoted there as its tool. A third-party teardown puts about 60% of acquisition on this funnel.

To cross it: Build or buy your own paid creator community or course audience in the tens of thousands, which takes 1 to 2 years and most people never manage it.

Time won't do it

Daniel Riley is pitched as a viral AI creator with 130M views in a month and a claimed 650k+ followers across platforms (59.8k followers on Skool). Mateo sits on the Forbes Technology Council and speaks at events like PODIM. The brand reaches AI video learners, not a broad audience.

To cross it: Partner with or become an AI video creator who already has a large audience that buys courses and tools.

~2 mo to cross

Members who learn the Bootcamp curriculum inside PromptWise workflows, and who prepaid annual plans at up to 45% off, have a small reason to stay. Nothing stops them taking generated assets and leaving.

To cross it: Offer cheaper credits per Kling or Veo generation and easy prompt and workflow import.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The model lineup: every model it offers can be bought through fal.ai or Replicate APIs, or directly from the vendor
  • Credit and subscription billing, top-ups and the workspace UI
  • 'All models in one subscription' is the same pitch Higgsfield, Krea, Magnific and OpenArt already use
  • SEO is close to zero (DR 23, around 18 sitemap URLs), so there are no search rankings to protect

How you'd go after it

  • Undercut on price per generation: margins are only about 25% because model costs pass straight through, and buyers can compare credit math line by line
  • Sign up other big Skool and YouTube AI educators as affiliates or co-branded tool partners, and copy the community-as-channel playbook in other niches (UGC ads, real estate, ecommerce)
  • Go after the SEO and comparison-content space PromptWise ignores ('best Kling alternative', 'Veo 3.1 price'), which is where non-members search
  • Go vertical with an AI UGC ad tool for Shopify brands that has workflows a general creator studio lacks

04/Build against it?

Only with an edge

Only go in if you already own a creator audience or community that pays. The product is a commodity aggregator, VC-backed Higgsfield and Krea spend heavily on content and ads, and pass-through model costs keep margins thin.
