01/The verdict

An iOS and Android couples app with a shared pet pig, doodles, love letters, check-ins and mini games. Couples pay one monthly subscription that covers both partners.

Jack Friks's audience gave lovelee a strong start: $10.4k in November 2025, about $5.5k in its first three weeks, and 4.6 stars from 921 App Store ratings. Since then verified revenue has dropped every month to $1,758 in October 2026, so his following clearly doesn't keep subscribers paying. It is one Swift and Firebase app in a crowded category. Pookie gives away most of the same features for free, and Widgetable owns the shared-pet idea. Leaving costs a couple little more than a pet streak and some saved doodles.

02/3 moats

Time won't do it

Jack Friks has about 182k X followers, 28k on Instagram, a TikTok account and a 4k-subscriber newsletter. He built lovelee in public and it reached $2,800 MRR within 3 weeks. But revenue has fallen about 83% from its peak, and lovelee made about $3k of his $59k in May 2026, so it gets little of his attention.

To cross it: Use couple-creator UGC on TikTok, which is how most apps in this category grow. You don't need his audience, because his audience isn't what keeps lovelee's revenue up.

~2 mo to cross

Each pair builds up a pig, streaks, love letters and doodles inside the app. Leaving means both partners have to agree, and they lose that history.

To cross it: Offer a free tier so both partners can move without paying, and keep new couples long enough to build their own history.

~3 mo to cross

Screensdesign estimates about 70k monthly installs, and Jack's TikTok formats feed it. But the app's domain rating is only 18, and there's no sign of an SEO or affiliate engine.

To cross it: Run a few faceless TikTok and Reels accounts with couple formats, the playbook Jack has published himself.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The shared pet, doodles, whiteboard, letters and mini games are standard Swift and Firebase features
  • Home-screen widgets that push doodles to a partner's screen, which Widgetable and Locket already do
  • The deep-question and check-in content, which Paired, Agapé and Lovewick all ship
  • A soft paywall with a free trial, set up through Superwall

How you'd go after it

  • Go free-first like Pookie, which keeps the pet, games and widgets free and charges $4.99 for extras, and target lovelee users who are tired of paywalls
  • Fix what lovelee users complain about in App Store reviews: streaks that reset and a pig that doesn't register feeding
  • Own a niche such as long-distance couples (Miles Apart's angle) or married couples, with content made for them
  • Make the shared pet the creator's face on TikTok so every post doubles as an ad

04/Build against it?

Only with an edge

Only go in with a repeatable TikTok UGC channel or a niche the generalists ignore. The category has several funded and free rivals. Even a founder with 182k followers saw revenue fall from $10.4k to $1.8k a month in a year, so churn is the real problem.
