A $3 one-time Windows desktop app that puts a Mac-style notch at the top of the screen with music, Pomodoro, GitHub heatmap, projects and AI-tool status, sold to individual devs and power users.

BuildNotch has made about $94 all time from roughly 34 buyers at $3 each. The founder has about 536 X followers and is already trying to sell the product. It isn't on the Microsoft Store and has no code signing, compliance or data lock-in, and the domain rating is 4. Free and paid rivals already offer the same features, including notches that detect Claude Code and other AI apps, so nothing stops a clone or keeps a user from switching.

Easy to copy

The notch overlay, media controls and Pomodoro themes are standard Win32/WPF work. Many open-source repos like DynamicWin, NotchX and Notch-11 already do this.
AI-tool auto-detection is already in free projects. Notch-11 detects ChatGPT, Claude and Codex, and vitaans/windows-notch shows Claude Code status.
A GitHub contribution heatmap and a project list with icons are a day of work with the public GitHub API.
A $3 one-time price means buyers have no subscription and no data to give up when they switch.

How you'd go after it

List on the Microsoft Store with a verified publisher and code signing. BuildNotch hasn't done this, and Isle Notch is already there.
Ship it free and open source, aimed at the r/Windows and r/ClaudeAI crowd, and let GitHub stars do the distribution.
Go deeper on the dev niche: live Claude Code, Codex and Cursor agent status, CI build alerts and PR notifications, all in the notch.
Ship a cross-platform version that covers macOS too, so the brand isn't tied to a Windows-only niche.
