“Lighthouse plus a badge is a weekend build. Revenue fell from $1,141 to $5 a month, and the dofollow link is a perk any directory gives away.”

01/The verdict

A website audit tool covering SEO, speed, trust and AI visibility. It sells a dofollow backlink, an embeddable score badge and daily monitoring to indie founders and developers for $5/month or $35 lifetime.

The product wraps free, public checks (PageSpeed and Lighthouse style audits, meta tags, headings, security headers) and adds a backlink and a badge. Seobility, SEOptimer, Google's own tools and dozens of launch directories already offer the same things. Revenue spiked to $1,141 at the October 2025 launch and has since fallen to $5/month with one active subscription, so no retained customer base or lock-in exists to defend. The only small assets are a domain rating of about 30 to 33 and a few thousand sites that may embed the badge, and a challenger can match both in a couple of months.

02/1 moat

~2 mo to cross

The site has an Ahrefs domain rating of about 33 and claims 2,979 users. Some of those users embed a badge that links back to its certified pages. It is also listed on many launch directories (Product Hunt with 63 followers, findly.tools, LaunchIgniter, launchzone).

To cross it: Launch on the same 20 to 30 directories and offer a free dofollow badge. That builds a similar DR and backlink loop within a few months.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The audit engine is built on free, public checks (Lighthouse/PageSpeed, meta tags, heading structure, security headers) that an LLM can turn into a 'paste into your AI tool' fix list.
  • The dofollow backlink and trust badge, which launch directories like LaunchBuff and Slaky already give away.
  • Daily monitoring and score-change alerts, which are a cron job plus email.
  • Pricing at $5/month or $35 lifetime, so there is nothing to undercut and no contract or data to lock customers in.

How you'd go after it

  • Give the audit, badge and backlink away free as a lead magnet for a paid directory or launch service, which kills the paid tier.
  • Go deeper on AI search visibility, for example tracking real citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. A generic score can't match that.
  • Bundle the audit into an existing indie launch platform that already has traffic and higher DR.
  • Target agencies with white-label PDF reports and multi-site monitoring, which a $5 single-site tool doesn't serve.

04/Build against it?

Stay away

Free tools and well-funded SEO suites already saturate website audits. This product's own revenue fell from $1,141 to $5 a month, which shows the badge-and-backlink pitch doesn't keep people paying.
