01/The verdict
Lifterly is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that builds workouts, logs sets and offers an AI coach. Users pay for a Pro tier, and the core tracker is free.
Lifterly bundles AI workout generation, set logging, strength scores and an Apple Watch app. That is a few weeks of work with current AI coding tools, and each piece exists in bigger apps. I found no founder audience, funding, user numbers, ratings or exclusive data. The only possible edge is early SEO pages for exercises, programs and tools. Its App Store page showed no rating count I could confirm, so confidence is low.
02/1 moat
Shallow
The site has indexable exercise, program, tool and feature pages in English and French, such as /exercises, /programs and /strength-score. I could not confirm that they rank or bring in meaningful traffic.
To cross it: Publish similar programmatic SEO pages and build links. Competitors like Hevy, JEFIT and Fitbod already rank for the same terms.
03/The gap
Easy to copy
- Workout generation from goal, equipment and schedule is a prompt to an LLM plus an exercise database.
- Set logging, rest timers and history are standard in Hevy, Strong and JEFIT.
- The Apple Watch app is plain WatchKit work that rivals already ship.
- The AI coach uses the user's own training history. Any rival has the same context once a user logs in.
How you'd go after it
- Undercut on price: keep AI coaching in the free tier while Fitbod charges about $16 a month.
- Add Android and web. Lifterly is iPhone and Apple Watch only.
- Target a niche such as powerlifting, women's strength training or home gym users, with programs made by a known coach.
- Use a fitness creator's audience to drive installs. Lifterly's solo developer has no visible following.
04/Build against it?
Only with an edge
The market is full of strong rivals and the code is cheap. Only build it with a real edge, such as an existing fitness audience, a coach's programs or a niche no big app serves.
