01/The verdict
LeadShark sends an automatic LinkedIn DM with your lead magnet to anyone who comments a keyword on your post. LinkedIn creators, coaches and B2B marketers pay $39 to $99 a month.
LeadShark has real traction: it says it has served 1,500+ creators, delivered 2.7M+ DMs and reached almost 500 paying customers in its first year. None of that protects it. It runs on LinkedIn session automation, not an approved API, so a clone faces no approval wall, and tools like Unipile sell the same access to anyone. Each automation lives for one post, so customers lose almost nothing by moving, and LinkMagnet, Saylink and Turnward already sell the same core feature.
02/2 moats
Shallow
It has been live since September 2024 and launched on Product Hunt. It runs a 30% affiliate program, a partners page, a blog, many SEO comparison and keyword pages ('LinkedIn comment to DM', 'PhantomBuster alternatives') and free LinkedIn tools that bring in traffic. Its pitch as 'the original' and 'ManyChat for LinkedIn' is spreading.
To cross it: Publish comparison and keyword pages, offer free LinkedIn tools, and recruit a few LinkedIn creators as affiliates who show the tool working on their own viral posts.
Shallow
Users keep templates, lead history and Kit or Beehiiv syncs in LeadShark, plus links to the Apex MCP and its sister products. Still, each automation belongs to a single post and has to be rebuilt for the next one anyway.
To cross it: Offer a one-click CSV lead import and a first month free. Users can start fresh on their next post.
03/The gap
Easy to copy
- The core loop: watch comments for a keyword, reply under the comment, send a connection request, deliver the DM. Unipile plus n8n does it today.
- Templates, click tracking, gated email capture and Kit or Beehiiv syncs are standard features.
- Post scheduling with an automation attached, and an MCP server, are each a few days of work.
- No official LinkedIn API approval is involved, so LeadShark has no head start on access.
How you'd go after it
- Undercut on price and limits the way LinkMagnet does: €29 a month with unlimited automations, against LeadShark's 10 on the $39 plan.
- Win on account safety: human-like random delays, conservative pacing for new accounts and clear documentation. That is the main worry for creators whose LinkedIn account is their business.
- Get built and promoted by a well-known LinkedIn creator who uses it live on their own lead-magnet posts. Founder-led creator distribution beats a 3-person team with few reviews.
- Bundle comment-to-DM into a wider LinkedIn creator suite (writing, scheduling, analytics) so it becomes a free feature, not a paid product.
04/Build against it?
Only with an edge
Only worth it if you already have LinkedIn creator distribution, or can bundle this into a bigger LinkedIn product. On its own the feature is a commodity, the market is filling with €29 clones, and LinkedIn can ban the whole category at any time.
