01/The verdict

An iPhone and web journal where parents save their kids' quotes, voice notes, photos and their own notes. Parents pay £4.99 a month or £39.99 a year, and invited family join free.

keeps looks like a solo app from a UK parent, Alexander Guenin. It has 3 App Store ratings and no funding, audience or distribution I could find. The features (quotes, voice notes, photos, auto-grouping by date and place, a home screen widget) are standard iOS work that a clone matches in weeks. The only friction is that a family's saved memories pile up over time, and that only matters after a family has used it for years.

02/1 moat

~1 mo to cross

Once a family has stored years of quotes and voice notes, and invited relatives to add to them, moving everything is a hassle. But keeps is new, with 3 ratings, so very few families have built up much history yet.

To cross it: Offer a one-tap import or export and target new parents who haven't picked an app yet.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • Quote, voice, photo and journal capture with a home screen widget
  • Auto-grouping of moments using date, place and weather data
  • Free invites for unlimited family members, plus web access
  • A trial and subscription price (£4.99 a month) that rivals already match or undercut

How you'd go after it

  • Undercut on price with a free tier or a one-off lifetime purchase, as many quote apps like Cuote and QuoteMeTots do
  • Ship on Android too, since keeps is iPhone only and that leaves out many grandparents and partners
  • Win parents through baby registry or retailer partnerships, as Tinybeans did with Babylist
  • Sell printed yearbooks or books of kids' quotes as a second source of revenue and a reason to stay

04/Build against it?

Stay away

The market is crowded, and Tinybeans paid only about $2.7M to $4M for Qeepsake, so the category isn't worth much. Without a parenting audience or a retail partner, a new app just becomes another no-name entry in the App Store.
