01/The verdict

Frames X sells Figma UI kits and design systems (Web, Mono shadcn-compatible, Root wireframe) to designers, freelancers and small teams for $47 to $999, mostly as lifetime licenses.

Frames X is a solid, long-running indie product. Dmitrii Bunin has shipped design kits since 2017, and the site claims 4,500+ customers. But a Figma kit is a file that a skilled designer can rebuild, and the category is packed with free and cheap rivals. The only protection is a modest SEO and content footprint plus placement in 'best Figma UI kit' roundups. There is no founder audience to speak of (447 X followers, about 5.8K on Medium), no network, and almost no lock-in, since it is sold as a lifetime license.

02/2 moats

~6 mo to cross

It ranks for 'Figma UI kit' content through its own blog, Medium posts and Product Hunt. It also appears in third-party roundups, including Untitled UI's '30 Best Figma UI Kits', Create UI's list and Ant for Figma's top 5.

To cross it: Publish 6 months of Figma tutorial and comparison content, launch on Product Hunt and Gumroad, and pitch roundup authors.

~3 mo to cross

Teams that build a product's Figma files on its components, variables and design tokens face some rework to swap kits. But the lifetime license means there is no recurring revenue to protect anyway.

To cross it: Win new projects and teams starting from scratch rather than trying to migrate existing ones.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The components, templates, charts and dashboards: 3,500+ components that a skilled designer, helped by Figma variables and AI tools, can match in months
  • Lifetime pricing of $129 to $999, which rivals already match or beat (Untitled UI from $129, with a large free tier)
  • The bundled 94-page design handbook, which anyone can write
  • The design tokens and early Angular code components built with CocoKits, which shadcn/ui and Untitled UI React already do better

How you'd go after it

  • Ship a free, shadcn- and Tailwind-synced Figma kit and upsell a pro tier, the playbook that made Untitled UI the category default
  • Go vertical (fintech dashboards, AI app UI, healthcare) where a generalist kit is thin
  • Sell design-to-code parity in React with an AI- and MCP-ready token setup, so developers using Claude Code or v0 get matching output
  • Undercut on team pricing with a subscription that includes regular new templates, since the market says most kits stopped updating

04/Build against it?

Stay away

There are dozens of kits, many free, and Untitled UI dominates. AI UI generation inside Figma and in code is also shrinking demand for static kits. Only try it if you already have a large designer audience or a code-first distribution channel.
