01/The verdict

Flight is a web focus timer with a flight theme. You pick a destination, the session lasts as long as the flight would, and a plane crosses a 3D globe. It's aimed at students and remote workers. No pricing or paid tier is visible.

The whole product is a timer with a flight animation, and AI coding tools reproduce that in a day or two. There is already a free open-source GitHub repo, FocusFlight 3D, that does the same thing: pick a destination on a 3D globe and the flight time sets the focus session. FocusFlight - Deepfocus Timer has 2.5M+ downloads and an estimated $60k a month in revenue. I found no founder audience, press, Product Hunt launch, reviews or users for flightsession.app.

02/Moats

No moats found. Nothing here would take a good clone longer than a weekend.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The core mechanic, where flight time sets the session length and a plane flies across a map, already ships in at least eight apps and several free GitHub projects.
  • The 3D globe and great-circle routes come almost free from open-source libraries like three.js, globe.gl or Cesium.
  • The airport list and flight-duration maths use public data (OpenFlights) and simple distance formulas.
  • It's a web app with no account, no history and no data, so users have nothing to lose by switching.

How you'd go after it

  • Ship it as a native iOS app with Screen Time app blocking, which this web version can't do and which is the paid feature in FocusFlight and Focus Flight.
  • Build an add-on inside Notion or Obsidian, or a Chrome extension, so the timer sits where students and developers already work.
  • Add group or co-working flights where friends board the same route. That would give a social hook that solo timers lack.
  • Go after study and productivity creators on TikTok. That channel already pushed FocusFlight to millions of downloads.

04/Build against it?

Stay away

The flight-timer niche is already full of copies, with a leader at 2.5M+ downloads and free open-source versions. A new entrant only makes sense with a distribution edge, like a large study-creator audience, or with native app blocking plus a social feature.
