AutoShorts.ai
Does AutoShorts.ai have a moat?
Kinda.
26/100 · Shallow moat
“The faceless video pipeline copies in a week. What a clone can't buy is TikTok and YouTube posting approval and a paid-ads engine already tuned.”

01/The verdict
AI tool that writes, voices, renders and auto-posts faceless Shorts to TikTok and YouTube every day. Paid for by side-hustlers and faceless channel owners on monthly plans.
AutoShorts.ai makes real money. Founder Eric Smith has posted $90K to $122K MRR, with no funding and no employees. But that growth came mostly from Meta ads at about $20 CAC and from affiliates, and any rival with an ad budget can buy the same things. What actually slows a clone is approved TikTok and YouTube posting access and a tuned ad funnel. The product is a commodity: at least half a dozen clones sell the same thing, and customers can leave whenever they like.
02/3 moats
Shallow
Auto-posting needs TikTok's Content Posting API, and posts from unaudited apps can only go out as private. YouTube uploads at volume need a Data API quota increase. Smith said adding YouTube posting raised conversion 4 to 6x.
To cross it: Apply for the TikTok direct-post audit and the YouTube quota increase on day one, then wait the likely 1 to 3 months.
Shallow
Growth ran on Meta ads (about $18.6K a month in ad spend, $20 CAC against $120 LTV) and an affiliate push that took MRR from $2K to $12K in weeks. The product also promotes itself, which Smith says brings about a dozen signups a day.
To cross it: Spend a few months and some money testing Meta ad creatives and recruiting the same faceless-income affiliates.
Shallow
Smith (@ericsmith1302, ex-Instagram engineer) builds in public with revenue screenshots, and that drew press and case studies. His follower count is likely in the tens of thousands, not hundreds of thousands, and paid ads drive most sales, not his audience.
To cross it: Build an indie-hacker audience of your own, or skip that and win on ads and SEO.
03/The gap
Easy to copy
- Script, voiceover, AI images and captions all come from rented models any clone can call
- Daily posting schedules and niche presets like scary stories, history and Bible tales
- Pricing around $19 to $69 a month, with nothing to lose when switching apart from a series setup
- Its brand counts for little in this market (Trustpilot 3.4 from 14 reviews, no G2 reviews)
How you'd go after it
- Undercut on price or offer a more generous free tier, since buyers are price-sensitive side-hustlers
- Win on output quality, using AI video models instead of static images with a voiceover, to fix complaints about repetitive scripts and static visuals
- Pick a niche it underserves, such as long-form faceless YouTube, Instagram Reels-first channels or non-English markets
- Outbid it with affiliates in the make-money-online YouTube creator scene with higher commissions
04/Build against it?
Only with an edge
Only go in if you already have a cheap paid-ads or affiliate channel, or clearly better video output. This is a crowded commodity market, and YouTube and TikTok keep tightening rules on mass-produced AI content, which puts the whole category at risk.
