Kinda.

“The Slack help desk is a weekend build. The real assets are trained IT staff and a founder who already took a productized agency to about $10M.”

01/The verdict

Human IT help desk and light managed service, delivered in Slack, for startups and small businesses. Customers pay $99 per user per month with a 10-user minimum, month-to-month.

uhoh is a productized MSP, not software. The intake layer (Slack, ticketing, a flat price) copies in days, and customers can leave month to month. What slows a challenger is the operating playbook and sales engine Jonathan Sturgeon brings from Dingus and Zazzy, an 'unlimited' productized marketing agency estimated at $9.9M in 2024 that grew through cold calling. But that is know-how a capable operator can match in months. It is not a personal brand (261 X followers), a network or a certification.

02/3 moats

~6 mo to cross

The service is done by people: about 6 to 9 staff, with hiring of remote IT specialists. It applies the unlimited flat-fee model Sturgeon already scaled at Dingus and Zazzy (100 to 250 staff, roughly 108 customers).

To cross it: Hire and train a small remote IT team and write runbooks for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, HubSpot and access issues, then keep margins positive on unlimited requests.

~6 mo to cross

Dingus and Zazzy itself is a testimonial customer. Sturgeon has a proven cold-calling sales machine and about 16K LinkedIn followers. Selling uhoh to existing agency clients is likely but unconfirmed. Domain rating is only 17, so SEO brings little.

To cross it: Build an outbound team, or partner with an agency, fractional COO group or accelerator that already has a startup client base.

~2 mo to cross

Once uhoh holds admin access to a client's workspace, automations, CRM setup and device policies, moving that knowledge elsewhere is a hassle. Still, the plan is month-to-month, and 37 subscriptions average about $1.3K each.

To cross it: Offer a free migration and audit that documents the client's stack in the first week.

03/The gap

Easy to copy

  • The Slack-based intake and 'no tickets' experience, which any MSP can copy with off-the-shelf tools
  • Flat $99 per user pricing with no setup fee, which is easy to match or undercut
  • Partner badges (Google, Microsoft, Zoho), which any MSP can get with modest effort
  • A 'try it risk-free' offer, which costs nothing to copy

How you'd go after it

  • Undercut with AI-first triage: Slack bots like Ravenna or Unthread handle password resets and access requests, so humans only take escalations at $49 to $69 per user
  • Go vertical, for example agencies, clinics or fintech startups, and bundle SOC 2 or HIPAA readiness that uhoh doesn't advertise
  • Add device management and hardware-as-a-service, which Electric and Cortavo sell and uhoh doesn't lead with
  • Sell to companies under 10 seats that the 10-user minimum leaves out

04/Build against it?

Only with an edge

Thousands of MSPs compete here, and margins depend on running a human team well. Only go in if you already have a startup client base to cross-sell to, or a clear vertical or AI-automation edge that lets you price below $99 per user.
